Reseal sheet rock, can I should I?

Not a fan of oil based myself, I can't stand the smell. If the surface is pitted or uneven, you may need to "spackle" it to even it out. There are also specific products for sealing plaster/sheetrock if your area is large. It is highly absorbent, so will take quite a bit of paint to reseal.
